The places we gravitate to and try to hang on to are “comfort zones”.
It is important to let go of the seemingly safe and secure so we can truly soar.
Yes, we all have comfort zones.
Yes, we have comfort clothes, comfort friends, comfort food.
We wear comfort clothes because they’re soft and comfortable. When I go to the corner shop, I wear my house clothes that I picked up like 5 years ago. They’re not in style, they’re full of holes, but am happy because they feel so comforting and familiar.
We find friends who make us feel safe and secure, and we are content to stick with then, shying away from taking the risks required to form new friendships.
Much of what we want and seek in life that is meaningful and significant is just beyond the edge of our comfort zone. If we’re not willing to venture “out there,”, we will never find and have all that we truly desire. We will never fulfil our complete purpose.
To experience life in full colour, to soar to dreamed-of and hoped-for heights, we have to expand our comfort zone.
We have to be willing to do what is uncomfortable until it becomes comfortable.
“There is no choice, no destiny, no fate, that can circumvent or hinder or control the firm resolve of a determined soul” – Ella Wheeler
