Andrew Smart, psychologist, says, “We need space to find meaning in our lives and our environment’, and he’s right!
Why is it then, the only time I manage to find this meaning is when I am abroad? In this space, I ponder the big stuff, you know, like what does life mean? What needs to change in my life for me to be truly happy? I realise how un-present I am in my everyday life: unaware of my body, the space around me, nature – in fact anything outside my own head. It’s quite a selfish way to live life really; constantly in one’s own head, ticking off one’s own to do list, in one’s own little universe. It’s a shame that this is how I have gone through a big chunk of my life 🙁 Today feels like a chance to get out of that mindset and be more mindful!
Be happy! x
