“Our true friends are those who are with us when the good things happen. They cheer us on and are pleased by our triumphs. False friends only appear at difficult times, with their sad, supportive faces, when, in fact, our suffering is serving to console them for their miserable lives.” – Paulo Coelho
Each friend represents a world in us, a world possibly not born until they arrive, and it is only by this meeting that a new world is born. Our friends can be more or less close, and more or less loyal, and our relationships with them depend a lot on what we expect from friendship in general. Though some natural loners are happy without them, most of us depend greatly on the company of true friends.
So how would you feel if I said, every one of your friends befriended you because of something you can do for them???
Would you believe me?
You should know that friendship is largely transactional – meaning that there is some kind of symbiotic relationship in motion. The instant your intrinsic value diminishes, the friendship ends. Even those friends that stick by you in hard times – they’re either doing it because of how you make them feel or because you have something that they want (in most cases). Search your feelings deep down. You will know this to be true.
Nobody does anything for free. There’s always a trade going on in there somewhere…
Thought it would be good to share a youtube video on friends with benefits, if you guys have the time to watch, do!
Be happy. x
