What I Know For Sure by Oprah Winfrey
There truly aren’t enough adjectives in the dictionary to adequately convey how utterly compelling, inspirational and motivational this book is.
And for that reason, this month is solely dedicated to the one and only Oprah Winfrey and her book What I Know For Sure!
This isn’t reading a book, it’s receiving love.
It’s so beautiful. It really is.
Oprah’s words just radiate so much love and vitality you can’t help but feel it and let it lift you.
It’s like she’s infused each page with herself ready to spring out no matter how much you have read.
I couldn’t put this book down – and finished it in 2 days. The book left me wanting more! And if any book can do that, in my opinion, it is worth every penny.
Her loving for life never stops and her desire to encourage everyone else to feel love to is what makes this book so uplifting. It’s almost not even about the words, it’s about her feeling behind them that comes through.
You can tell a writers motivation behind their words and hers is certain to love and share.
The book is organised by theme – joy, resilience, connection, gratitude, possibility, awe, clarity, and power and with each theme we get a rare, powerful and intimate glimpse into what Oprah knows for sure. It almost like she distilled 60 years of life into 240 pages and for someone who is in their late 20s I will forever be grateful for this wisdom, I have not earned!
With many references to Ram, Jesse Jackson and her friend the late Maya Angelou, Oprah captures that spiritual search we all find ourselves on, but cannot tangibly see. Her often, poignant ‘stories’ show how she herself discovered great meanings to her life.
One of the gems in the book is the following; “I’m working on not letting people with dark energy consume any of my minutes on this earth. . . . What I know for sure is that how you spend your time defines who you are.”
What I know for sure is that with all Oprah Winfrey has done and given to the world, despite the unavoidable truisms scattered among this book’s truths, she and her book deserve the epic readership, rapt attention, and grateful fan mail they’ll surely amass.
Thank you, Oprah.
Let me know what you think and if this is something you want me to continue to do going forwards. Enjoy reading 🙂
