It—life—is all happening NOW.
No doubt you realise that. But do you REALISE that?
We have a tendency to count down to the weekend. With Friday being one of our favourite days of the week.
But all we are doing is wishing our time and our life away.
Why would we do that?
Why would we not want, the most precious and fragile thing that I am sure those who are no longer living, would give anything to have more of?
A few weeks ago, my babi lost someone in his family. Albeit I wasn’t close with his relative, I saw the effect it had on his family. It was sad. I never know how to behave in those situations. That same week my sister welcomed a new daughter. I was there to experience this whole journey. It was one of the most godly and joyful experiences of MY life. Such a contrast of emotions. With death came life – quite literally. It really made me sit and think.
Loss is precisely the thing that motivates new life. Without it, we become too comfortable (even in our discomfort) to make the changes that will open the doors to a deeper, more satisfying experience.
Loss doesn’t necessarily need to be related to death – it could be loss of joy in a career, or loss of love. Whatever loss we are going through, or have yet to go through, I hope one day we wake up and realise, that someday there won’t be any more time to do the things we’ve always wanted to do, so we must do it now.
The reality is, that no one can go back, but everyone can go forward. And even though we can’t choose our lives, we can decide what to do with the joys or griefs we’re given.
