Sometimes I feel bad when I write posts.
I want to give you concrete steps for ‘fixing’ many things, and although I have before given advice and this is indeed an advice blog, most of my blog posts have one purpose only: to draw awareness to some of these key issues in life. You can’t take action to improve your life until you know what needs improving. You need awareness first. That’s half the battle.
My suggestion today is this: make finding your passion your life priority. If you’re young, and aren’t in a relationship or married, put this as your #1 priority, above relationships, above hobbies, above anything else. Go travelling, go sit on the beach, and if you don’t believe me, take some time off work for a few months and go travel around the world in 80 days to see for yourself if what I am saying is true :-). I think you’ll find what I found: people are often happier working, but only when we’re working on things that matter.
Steve Jobs puts this so eloquently below:
“You’ve got to find what you love. And that is as true for your work as it is for your lovers. Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven’t found it yet, keep looking. Don’t settle. As with all matters of the heart, you’ll know when you find it. And, like any great relationship, it just gets better and better as the years roll on. So keep looking until you find it. Don’t settle.”
Also to add my 2 cents to this, the way i see it, is that the minute you settle for less than you deserve, you get even less than you settled for! And no one wants that!
